  • On June 5–6, we participated in the meeting of the European Network of Young Academies (ENYA) and the Young Academies Science Advice Structure (YASAS) in Bern.
  • In cooperation with Õhtuleht, we continued the project One Scientific Fact a Day.
  • We partnered with Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) in the creation of the series Puust ja punaseks

  • In cooperation with the Estonian Academy of Sciences, we organized the English-language competition Science in 3 Minutes
  • On April 3, we hosted representatives from the Finnish Academy of Sciences, including a delegation of young researchers.
  • We participated in the Women and Girls in Science campaign via social media and other activities.
  • We awarded special prizes for outstanding student research at the Student Science Festival held at the AHHAA Science Centre in Tartu.

  • At the beginning of January, we organized the conference Estonian Young Researchers Abroad

  • We participated in the inaugural meeting of the UK Young Academy at the invitation of the Royal Society in London and discussed collaboration between Estonian and UK researchers.
  • On April 20–21, we took part in the joint conference of the Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian Academies of Sciences in Riga – XVIII Baltic Conference on Intellectual Cooperation – and met with representatives of the Latvian and Lithuanian young academies.
  • On May 3–4, we participated in the European Network of Young Academies (ENYA) meeting in Stockholm.
  • On September 7–9, we attended the Nordic-Baltic Young Academies meeting in Oslo.
  • We represented Estonia at the final forum of the International Year of Basic Sciences at CERN.
  • At the general meeting in summer, a new board was elected:
    Toomas Vaimann (President), Miina Norvik (Vice President), Martin Thalfeldt (Vice President), Erik Abner (Head of Communications), Mihkel Kama (Secretary General)
  • At the December meeting, 9 new members were elected to ENTA:
    Mai Beilmann, Marju Himma, Juhan Hellerma, Madis Järvekülg, Kerli Liivand, Kristiina Mark, Kadi Liis Saar, Kaspar Tootsi, and Hardi Veermäe
  • Led by Martin Thalfeldt, we produced a 10-part video series explaining the green transition and related topics to the general public

  • We received the nationally recognized Science Popularizer Award for the article series ElemENTAarne! published in Õhtuleht in 2022. Our member Tuul Sepp also received an award.

  • We joined the CoARA network (Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment) and signed the agreement on research assessment reform.
  • We contributed to the preparation of amendments to the Research and Development Organization Act (TAKS) in several working groups.
  • We contributed to the drafting of the gender equality policy in Estonia and in international networks (GERING Roles, COST VOICES, cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs, development of a gender equality plan at the University of Tartu)
  • In September, our member Helen Eenmaa was elected President of YASAS; through YASAS, we participate in the European Commission’s science advisory consortium SAPEA+

We signed the Nordic-, and Baltic Young Academies of Science in a statement regarding gender equality in the academy. Take a look at the Statement.

We organized and moderated the Fresh Research stage at the Estonian Opinion Festival. Tuul Sepp, Mario Kadastik, Katrin Tiidenberg, Marju Raju ja Ester Oras took part in the panel “What’s the use of fresh research?”. Read the article (in Estonian).
