Funding of researchers’ mobility
Researchers looking for funding to visit Estonian co-operation partner(s) are advised to check the list of our contacts with
partner institutions. Our contacts advise the inquirers about the eligibility, requirements (incl. application forms) and deadlines for submitting an application for an exchange visit to Estonia. In most cases, an invitation letter issued by the Estonian collaboration partner (host researcher) is required. The Estonian host researcher is expected to be in charge of the scientific programme of the visit.
If a researcher is nominated by our partner institution for a study or conference visit to Estonia, the Estonian Academy of Sciences will:
- if applicable, issue a visa invitation and advise the nominee about the visa formalities and requirements;
- book and pay for the accommodation;
- pay a daily allowance (currently, 275 EEK per day for visits up to 14 days).
The EAS does not cover:
- visa fees;
- conference fees;
- living expenses of accompanying family members;
- medical insurance.
NB! Different rules apply to researchers from Finland
On the 1st of January 2007 changes in the bilateral agreement between the Academy of Finland and the Estonian Academy of Sciences came into force.
- Applications to fund study stays of Finnish researchers are submitted to the Estonian Academy of Sciences by the hosting scientists.
- If the application is approved, following costs will be covered: accommodation, daily allowances, travelling costs (local and international).
- However, max. two round-trips per person in a year are allowed (preferably ferry, economy class). If travelling by plane is necessary, please ask for instructions in advance. The costs will be covered afterwards upon an original bill.
- The long-term study visits are preferred. However, conferencevisits can be financed as well (except the conference fees).
- All questions are welcome to Ms. Piret Press (Tel: +372 6451925, e-mail: piret.press@akadeemia.ee) or Mrs. Marja-Liisa Liimatainen (Tel: +358 9 77488316, e-mail: marja-liisa.liimatainen@aka.fi)
Visitors from the EU countries are expected to have their European Health Insurance Card (see more:
http://ec.europa.eu/employment_social/healthcard/index_en.htm) and/or travel insurance. For visitors outside the EU countries, travel insurance valid during the stay is an obligatory requirement.
